Landlord / Tenant Disputes

New York’s landlord/tenant laws are amongst the most complex and detailed in the nation. Failure to comply with the strict procedural rules or time deadlines in a New York eviction can be fatal to the outcome of your case. The lease agreement is important but there are also a host of statutes and agencies that regulate the tenancy. Rent regulation, for example, can set the maximum legal rent for a particular apartment and can further limit rent increases, reduction of services, and the right to terminate a tenancy. Our firm has significant experience representing both landlords and tenants in residential and commercial landlord/tenant disputes. We believe that the best course of action is to avoid litigation by drafting commercial and residential leases that clearly define the rights and responsibilities of the landlord-tenant relationship. When litigation cannot be avoided, however, we can provide you with the effective courtroom advocacy you will need to quickly resolve whatever legal issue you may face.
